7 Quick Takes - 22 July 2011

~1~

This week has been a busy week. Every nook and cranny of time got filled. Yesterday (Thursday) was our first morning to take it slow and not rush anywhere. We cleaned the house leisurely. We read books when we wanted to. We I purged toys. And it was fantastic. However...

...I still feel the need to recharge. I had planned to put more thought and effort towards this blog this week. I have my Space A piece that Ute kindly looked over for me, and it just waiting to be polished and finished. As an introvert, though, I can't seem to balance an active social life and introspective writing. The former drains the batteries and the result looks like...well...like these Takes! I suspect that I need a rest time equal to or greater than the period of flurry and activity.

I appreciate the sentiment of this list, however it's a bit condescending:

If you are an introvert, be as interested in this article as I was: 10 Myths About Introverts.

That said, I have gotten some great reading in this week. This is due, in part, to some great recommendations and the easy access that is provided by Kindle. What's that, you say, they don't have The 10 Habits of Happy Mothers: Reclaiming Our Passion, Purpose, and Sanity at our little library? (Thanks, Cynthia!) And it will take at least a week for it to get to our APO address? And, you say, you CANNOT WAIT ANOTHER MOMENT to reclaim your Passion, Purpose, and Sanity?!?!?! Never fear, you can be reading that little number in minutes on the Kindle!

And by "you", of course, I mean "me".

I am aware I need to work on my will to delay gratification.

Now, hurry HURRY! Get on over to conversiondiary.com and IMMEDIATELY browse through all the other Quick Takers!!

Ha! I'm so glad you are enjoying it! I am too :) Did you know Elizabeth Foss is doing a "book study" about this book on her blog? It's interesting and worth a look. It's called In the Heart of My Home.

Also, I love the introvert list. Seriously, the older I get, the more I am realizing that this is me. An introvert who all her life was trying to live as an extrovert. Imagine that confusion.

Have a great weekend!

I am going to have to check out the study!

I would think the "How to" rules were made for caregivers of introverted children (hence the "call to dinner" and "reprimand them privately". And then it doesn't sound so condescending, at least not to me.
I don't know if we ever talked about it, but on the scale between introvert and extrovert I am smack in the middle. Just this week I came to the conclusion that this means for me that I have to have alone time AND (adult) social time to really be able to recharge my batteries. See... there is just no time left to get anything done, like chores etc. ;-)
